The Prize: The Quedagh Merchant ⛵was a 400-ton Indian vessel filled with valuable cargo, including silk, muslin, gold, silver, and sugar, estimated to be worth over £75,000.

Significance: Although Kidd claimed the ship was a legal target because it carried French passes (making it a prize under his privateering commission), the ship was actually captained by an Englishman and owned by Armenian merchants and a Mughal nobleman.

Consequences: This act was considered an act of piracy, and news of it directly led to his downfall and ultimate execution ☠️ in 1701. 🏴‍☠️

On my trip to Italy, we stopped at the home town of parents of a buddy I was traveling with. They happen to have a motocross event at the same time.

I shot some of it with an 8mm simulator app on the iPhone. I always love 8 and 16mm, as they have a "film-y" feel to them.

They start from youngest to oldest. This was the 2nd heat, with 10-12 year olds. The opening heat (didn't have the camera ready) was 6-10 year olds. Amazing. Way more fun than playing with an iPad.

These towers were strategically placed to allow for communication and signaling between them, enabling a swift response to potential attacks.
